With summer comes beautiful weather, iconic San Diego sunsets, and, of course bbqs and get togethers with good friends. This year we have chosen a Luau theme to celebrate. Join us for an assortment of beer and wine accompanied by delicious food from the aptly-named Epic Catering.
We’ll start the evening with tray passed Hors D’Ouevres perfect for the season and the theme. From there, you’ll be treated to Hawaiian classics for the main event:
Island Style Kalua Pork: Slowly smoked and then Roasted in a Barbecue Hoisin Sauce and served shredded in the traditional Luau Style with green Cabbage
King Kamehameha Chicken: Chicken Breast Marinated in Coconut Milk Crusted in Panko and Lemongrass served with a Tropical Fruit Salsa Plate
Lunch Mac Salad: Elbow Macaroni combined with Celery, Carrot and Onions mixed with a Siracha, Mayo and Cider Vinegar Dressing
Broccoli Pineapple Slaw: Napa Cabbage combined with Broccoli Steams, Kale, Shaved Brussels, Jicama, Cranberries, Pineapple Dressed with Coconut Milk and Rice Wine Vinegar
And of course, we won’t forget the Kings Hawaiian Rolls and coconut rice.
We’ll finish everything off with ice cream, the perfect summer treat. Not just any ice cream though, but farm to pint ice cream from Makoto Chino’s Aisu Creamery (Read about it on Eater here). Makoto was one of our AIWF scholarship recipients and we are thrilled to see what he is creating, and we know you will love it as well.
We can’t wait to celebrate with all of our AIWF Members, and hopefully welcome some new ones too. We hope you can all make it for this memorable summer evening.
